Turkish champions Galatasaray AS have completed the signing of Australian international Harry Kewell on a free transfer.
'New challenge'
The Istanbul club have agreed a two-year contract with winger Kewell, who was released by Liverpool FC at the end of the English season. The 29-year-old said: "I wanted to move on and this is the best way. It's just what I'm looking forward to – a new challenge."
Kewell was part of the Leeds United AFC team beaten by Galatasaray in the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 1999/2000. He joined Liverpool from Leeds in 2003, but managed only 93 league appearances at Anfield because of injuries. The 35-cap international did, however, feature for Liverpool in their two UEFA Champions League finals against AC Milan – the penalties win in 2005, followed by the defeat two years later.
