Spain striker Daniel Güiza has become Luis Aragonés' first recruit since taking over at Fenerbahçe SK, leaving RCD Mallorca to sign a four-year contract for a reported fee of €15m.
Spanish achievements
The 27-year-old was the 27-goal top scorer, none of them penalties, in the Spanish Primera División last season and carried that form into UEFA EURO 2008™ by scoring twice as Aragonés guided the Iberians to glory in Vienna despite chiefly being used as a substitute. After starting out at Mallorca, Güiza went on to play for RC Recreativo de Huelva, CF Ciudad de Murcia and Getafe CF before rejoining the islanders in 2007.
Budapest test
The 69-year-old Aragonés recently joined Fenerbahçe as a replacement for Brazilian coach Zico, who led the Yellow Canaries to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League last season but lost out to Galatasaray AS in the Süper Lig title race. The club will return to Europe's premier club competition in the second qualifying round as they meet MTK Budapest on 29/30 July and 5/6 August.
