FC Internazionale Milano midfielder Dejan Stanković will miss the UEFA Champions League match at Panathinaikos FC after sustaining a knee injury during Serbia's 2-1 FIFA World Cup qualifying loss in France on Wednesday.
Examination
Stanković, who turned 30 on Thursday, had to leave the field after only four minutes following a collision with Thierry Henry. The former S.S. Lazio and FK Crvena Zvezda player returned to Italy and underwent tests which revealed sprained ligaments in his right knee. Although the injury is not as serious as initially feared, he will not travel to Athens for the Group B opener on Tuesday.
